Dollars & $ense® Youth Investment Program by State Farm
The Dollars and $ense program is designed to provide high school students, grades 9 through 12, with the opportunity to learn and apply “best practice” strategies for saving and investing. The goal of this program is to help students understand basic savings/investment principles and to apply these standards in their day-to-day lives.
The 8-week curriculum (Investing in Your Future) explores basic investment options and processes and the concepts are reinforced through the electronic program called Better Investing Classic. The Better Investing Classic is a hands-on learning experience that allows students to analyze stocks, print stock analysis reports, and store analyst data for fifteen (15) companies. The course is further enhanced by field trips, guest speakers, reading materials and games.
Annually, 100 Black Men of America Chapters are invited to apply through an RFP process to compete for grant funds to implement the Dollars and $ense program. The 100 Black Men Chapters that are awarded the funding complete the 8-week curriculum and compete in the National Dollars and $ense Competition held each year during the Annual Conference of 100 Black Men of America, Inc.
