The time, effort and giving that this organization provides our young men is incredible. The structure, consistency and learning opportunities are invaluable. Michael Daniel joined the 100 Black Men of Greater Charlotte in 2017. He is a mentor in the Movement of Youth (M.O.Y.) program where he currently has two mentees (Zander and Emmanuel). Community service has been a fundamental part of Michael’s fabric. He served as an after school mentor at Gideons Elementary every year during his matriculation at Morehouse College. Michael deems it his responsibility to help develop and mold M.O.Y. program participants into the next generation of African American leaders in Charlotte. We set a stretch goal to raise $5000.00 to help stop diabetes for the 170,000 people currently living with diabetes in Charlotte. We raised $8100.00!! 120 friends, family and neighbors contributed to the cause and helped our team reach this unexpected amount. November 1st was walk day and it was cold (41 degrees), wet and overcast but more than 70 members of the 100 Black Men and Friends team showed up and walked with hundreds of other teams to show we are committed to Stop Diabetes. Michael Bowlding Sr. Our member spotlight shines on Michael Bowlding Sr. Formerly a resident of Washington, D.C., he retired from the Federal Government’s Securities and Exchange Commission. He is a former member and alumni of the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) of Washington DC where he was coach of Saint John’s Catholic Church youth basketball team.
