From Caden’s mother – The 100 Black Men of Charlotte – MOY program has been such a wonderful opportunity for my son Caden. The time, effort and giving that this organization provides our young men is incredible. The structure, consistency and learning opportunities are invaluable. Our young men are challenged not only to be the best version of themselves but are instilled with the importance to be involved, support, and give back to their communities. The mentees are provided with a very realistic view of what they are facing in today’s world and are provided with the tools to be well equipped as they prepare for their future.

Patricke has been an outstanding influence on my son during the past two years he has mentored Caden. Patricke has shown a sincere desire to be involved and really get to know & understand Caden. He has developed a relationship that is fun, caring, and mutually respectful. Their time together has been one of bonding and exploring new things which challenge my son.  I’ve watched Caden’s personal growth as he learns more about himself during these teen years. I am grateful to Patrick for the impact he has had on Caden as evidenced by his improved confidence, self-esteem, and emerging leadership skills.

Caden’s grades & coursework have remained at honors level and he looks forward to beginning  9th grade at CMS- Charlotte Engineering Early College-UNCC.

From Caden’s mentor

“I have the privilege of being Caden Byers mentor and it has been a mutually beneficial relationship. We have a solid rapport built on respect, trust and honesty. Being recognized as mentee of the year is fitting for him as Caden takes all his commitments seriously. He is an “A” Honor Roll student and was a captain on his school’s track team. In addition to this he is highly engaged with our Movement of Youth program and recently represented our chapter at the national convention in Las Vegas on the Black History challenge team. During our mentor-mentee time we discuss everything from sports to relationships. Caden is a highly respectful young man with a very bright future. I look forward to watching him continue to grow.”
